Who we are

WIME is a strategic hub that aims to initiate a partnership with companies, government and other relevant stakeholders through education and knowledge management to benefit advocacy effort on gender in mining and energy sector.

Why WiME

“Gender mainstreaming is matter due to:”

The corresponding knowledge that is needed to mainstream gender is not institutionalised amongst ministers and stakeholders.
Most organizations work in a “silo” approach. This hinders knowledge or lesson learnt transfer between entities and collaboration efforts
Gender equality is a complex issue and to address this it requires a partnership across sectors to better understand gender-responsive interventions or standards
Although the education sectors especially the STEM field of study demonstrates an almost gender balance at enrolment, only a fraction of women are recruited into the mining and energy sector.
